Rhapsody in Ebony
Virtuosic. Sublime. Brilliant.

Experience Musical Elegance
Rhapsody in Ebony is a groundbreaking classical music ensemble whose name reflects both its artistic philosophy and cultural mission. In musical terms, a rhapsody is a free, expansive composition—emotional, bold, and unrestrained—while ebony evokes the richness and depth of Black identity. Together, the name embodies the ensemble’s commitment to expressive freedom, excellence, and the celebration of musicians of the African diaspora.
Comprised of critically acclaimed, world-class artists, and founded by celebrated flutist, Dr. Tia Roper, Rhapsody in Ebony delivers magnetic performances marked by technical brilliance, emotional depth, and unmistakable presence. The ensemble has effortlessly established a distinguished profile, appearing on Fox 5’s Good Day Atlanta and performing for prominent institutions and organizations including the Smithsonian Women’s History Museum; United Kingdom-based, global network powerhouse Black Women in Asset Management; Spelman College; The Paideia School; and private events for CAB Castings. Their artistry and impact have also been recognized by Voyage ATL Magazine and Shoutout Atlanta Magazine. Through compelling programming and powerful performances, Rhapsody in Ebony is redefining the classical music landscape—honoring tradition while boldly shaping its future.
